There’s a problem with Steam Cloud, when I try to manually delete the saves that don’t even appear in the save list in the Early Access for Baldur’s Gate 3, they keep on being restored from Steam Cloud even though I deleted them. But, they don’t appear in the game’s save menu so I can’t delete them at all! What do I do to delete those saves for eternity and not just until I launch the game again?

Larian Studios say I am to delete all Early Access saves from the game in order to prevent problems when the game is fully released, but I can’t do it because the saves can’t be deleted in game - they no longer appear in the game menu.

There’s an easy method that someone shared on Reddit 7 years ago which is supposedly still working till this day. To save you from visiting Reddit:

while you are in the game alt+tab and go the save folder of your game -now delete every save file you don’t want -when you are done, close the game -steam will start syncing and delete the files in the cloud as well.

If this doesn’t work, here’s the convoluted method.

You just can’t, period. When you have installed BG3 just disable cloud saves if it really creates an issue. Next time you enable them Steam should notice the new saves.

Well I hope the game doesn’t break due to the legacy saves that can’t be deleted because Steam Cloud is not working properly… because then I would have to blame Valve for not making a proper system.

Having seen a similar issue in a different game, I don’t believe that’s true. The solution involved disabling cloud saves, clearing out a local folder, then re-enabling cloud saves or…something.

Anywho, here’s an article with some steps OP @Tag365@lemmy.zip https://geekrumor.com/1362/how-to-delete-cloud-saves-on-steam/

They may work, they may not. Nobody knows cause it’s the internet and nobody updates old articles for new versions of platforms.
