July 2023 -
Going forwards, I’m going to start keeping track of the progress as the month goes on, because usually lots of cool things get discussed in the Discord but is hard to find at the end of the month. But regardless, here’s a quick highlight looking back:
Darkan.org - 2012 Remake
Darkan is the oldest remake on this list - It’s been developed for years by a veteran RSPS owner, with authentic dungeoneering support, multiple near-maxed players (on 1x exp rate), and more.
- 38 new bug fixes/features
- The first OSRS player to max is now active in Darkan’s Discord
2011scape.com - 2011 Remake
2011scape is a newer remake, so lots of the core and huge changes are always being done.
- 34 new bug fixes/features
- Character select screen
- Populated a lot more varps
2009scape.org - 2009 Remake
With developers from 2004scape and OpenRSC, as well as dozens of contributors, 2009scape has an active playerbase and tons of content.
- Huge release coming up next weekend, details will be in next month’s recap
- HD Support for mobile has started development, you can read the developer’s blog here
2004scape.org - 2004 Remake
2004scape breaks records in RS reverse engineering. It’s the first with a real 2004 cache, has the most advanced RuneScript, and a webclient. It is the only one on this list that does not yet have a playable live server.
- Lots of Quests being coded
- 190 new bug fixes/features
- As an example of their authenticity, see Mod Ashes comment and 2004scape’s implementation
OpenRSC - 2003 & 2001 Remake
OpenRSC is fully complete. It supports mobile, web, botting, and always has 20+ online their bot-free worlds.
- API changes for better website/2009scape integration
- IdleRSC, a popular bot client, has migrated to a new maintainer on Github, and seen various improvements
