That’s the fun/infuriating part: due to a lack of funding, that’s already the case no matter who’s in charge of the IRS!
It’s much more expensive for the IRS to audit the big fish and, knowing that, the GOP have made sure that they’re underfunded enough that their billionaire overlords like Musk can cheat on their taxes with impunity and never get audited.
So for every dollar of funding the IRS gets, the nation gets five dollars back. If the department of government efficiency wasn’t a sick joke, they’d love the IRS. Imagine if you had such an easy investment. Quintuple your money in a year.
