Summary

ICE has manipulated Google search results by updating timestamps on old press releases, making past immigration raids appear recent.

This tactic, first discovered by an immigration lawyer, has led to widespread fear and confusion in immigrant communities, with reports of mass arrests proving misleading.

Experts confirm ICE’s website updates triggered Google’s algorithm to rank outdated raids higher in search results.

Critics argue this strategy serves Trump’s narrative of large-scale deportations, despite little actual enforcement activity. Local officials have even issued statements refuting false rumors of ICE operations.

This is why I always assumed that any attempts at deportation would be shambolic. Too many Republican business owners employ undocumented immigrants for them to tolerate actual mass deportations. That being said, I’m sure they’d be mollified with prison labor - which I think is coming.
