Sitting in their detached houses never leaving, absolutely terrified of the world outside. Must be a horrible way to live
If they care so much about their community, this is the kind of thing that will kill it. If theres no affordable housing the community’s younger generation and young families will move away, too.
All this is going to do is make their town into a retirement community with a terminally shrinking tax base.
My in laws are the same way, they live in what was a rural suburb of a major metropolitan area. They are convinced that apartments will lower their property value despite that being statistically the opposite of what happens. They are msnbc liberals and don’t see how “property values” is just a nice way of saying you don’t want minorities around. Yet, they get mad when there is no one to work at the services they need.

i love nimbys. block anything that improves qol because property values. recently nimbys tried to fight an in progress light rail extension due to crime concerns and now their entire city probably wont get a rail connection until they give up.
