My name is Bijhan, and my husband is RaeRae. We’re trans. I’m Muslim, and RaeRae is Jewish - so we don’t get much help from our religious communities due to our interfaith/interracial marriage. We live in South America, making us further marginalized. Our country protects our civil rights, but we have no community to turn to for support.

We make comics for a living. It makes very little money, just a few hundred a month once we divide them. The money comes in bursts, and we expect our next burst on the 15th. However, we don’t have any money until then. We had some unexpected expenses this month. I broke a tooth, which needed to be replaced. RaeRae is dealing with a mysterious illness which is causing rashes all over their body. As a result we have to travel across the city to make use of our decentralized medical system. They also needed strong medicine to control the symptoms.
