What is currently the best way to transfer photos between android and iOS? I want to keep all the EXIF/location data on the photos.

I have tried LocalSend and Snapdrop, is there any other tool I can try out? Selfhosted is a big plus.

Self hosted you could use Plex to automatically upload all photos to your computer then download as needed to the other one.

Personally I use Google photos to do this and it works great but will probably require you to get a subscription depending on the size of your library.

My personal phone is android with a work iPhone and I want to transfer things over sometimes so I set up my work phone to upload as well.

It’s been a while since I used google photos, but I’m pretty sure it downsizes photos unless you pay for it.

I think even the free tier allows for original quality but its been years since I was on it. You only get like 15 GB of space though as well.

Try syncthing, it’s cross platform and peer to peer. You can it up on a home server as well if you want.

Get a thumb drive with a lightening plug. They can be found on Amazon for like $30 for 1tb. They always have some/multiple usb choices too.

Maybe not what you’re asking for, but I’ve been using Synology Photos. I think Imich might also do what you’re wanting.
