So back in 2016 when Bernie got shafted, and Dems stupid enough to not make him the VP, my response was that the democratic party needed to go twice as far to the left as the reps had gone right. As time goes on I’m convinced that that was the correct strategy. Offer them the narrative that billionaires are screwing us. we all deserve better. we deserve health care. we deserve to have comfortable and happy retirements starting at 50. And in the time frame from the early 20s to our '50s we should be able to earn more than enough to have a house, a happy life, and save up for our retirement.

If people have children they deserve government subsidies because those children are going to contribute to the country, and without them we would have no future.

Every American deserves to be fed and housed. Because we are the greatest country. The only thing stopping us is the greed of the ruling class of the billionaires.

We’re going to regulate social media like broadcast media. We will fine and tax these parasites into submission. They will provide a service that is valuable to the American people or they will cease to exist.

By law reverse the Dodd-Frank ruling and make it so that anyone accepting donations from a foreign nation is committing an act of treason, and that all who aided in abetted the transaction in any way shape or form are also guilty.

Give the right to vote in a presidential election to the people of Washington DC.

Leave all medical decisions up to patients and their physicians and out of the hands of government.

Ban for profit entities from running medical institutions or from administrating insurance companies.

We will make a clear and transparent path to citizenship for all immigrants that pass screenings and meet requirements. This path will be discussed with and built in part with business leaders and local governments to ensure that it benefits everyone.

That is how the Democrats could have galvanized and won and I think the shame is that they don’t want to give up the money that’s going to come along with that.

Fuck, I’m just a real American that went to college, works full time, had two kids, and is struggling to maybe become upper middle class before I die. I’m everything they say they are, and that they stand for. They’d never let me run.

The only thing a snake fears is a King Snake. I would eat those fuckers whole. Shit, just one good speech and I would have the streets covered in blood, pitchforks, and torch light

      Yes. All of this!

Also, DC has been voting in presidential elections since the 60s. They don’t have representation in Congress, however…

Absolutely. 2028 is counterintuitively not for “anyone but Trump” but for someone more radical than Bernie to split the votes away from whatever milquetoast garbage candidate the DNC dreams up and give them a wake-up call, possibly even ushering in a multiparty system along the way.

Wow. So, throw the election to whoever the Republicans run, and you think that somehow, magically, we’ll have a multiparty system as a result??

How about learn how the system actually works. Your advice is criminally stupid.

So there’s one problem with your position: The current strategy is throwing elections to whoever the Republicans happen to be running. The DNC fossils won’t learn their lesson by 2028 and it’ll be another repeat of 2024 and 2016 until democracy in America finally dies.

And again, y’all are gonna solve this with (checks notes) … wishful thinking? Wow. So glad you came up with that one! Surely that’ll work!!

Well, y’all just failed to solve it by not listening and moving to the right. How many more election cycles are y’all gonna do that?

Democrats don’t need to field a candidate if they’re so worried about splitting the vote.

They have made it clear that they only see fascism as an opportunity to move right anyway.

Millions of people sat out the election because they couldn’t be bothered to vote for a corporate apologist. There’s nothing criminal about being stupid, but I think you’ll find I’m not. There’s absolutely nothing magical about splitting one in a two party system and ending up with three parties, it is in fact the most basic math. Whoever the Republicans run will be Trump, by the way, and I actually think that if it’s made clear to the DNC establishment ASAP that the rabble is sick of the normal playbook there wouldn’t be any need to take this strategy past the primaries. But go on with your unsupported knee jerk ad hominem. I have faith in democracy, let’s wait a bit and see what the people think.

First past the post means third party candidates are never going to be viable. Pretending otherwise is burying your head in the sand.

But hey, you win, cause I’m magically never responding to anything you post ever again. Or something. Weirdo

Millions sat out because they didn’t see an appreciable distinction. At least the party got to move right.
