“Things I don’t like” are not all the same thing, even if they are all justifiably unlikeable.

One of these things is not like the others…

Don’t get me wrong, I am about as anti-capitalist as they come, but, what?

Aahhh, and another Lemmy oversimplification of complicated subjects.

Just say that capitalism is the guilty one and see the upvotes come in. Let’s not go into the actual complicated reasons, just blame capitalism and then we can all circle jerk about how beautiful communism is, how communism never caused any harm whatsoever, and how any historical fact is a capitalist lie.

I’ve had quite a few interesting conversations here

            So is communism

Both have godawful sides, so why not use a system that picks the best of both worlds?

The freedom and power of capitalism (with loads of limits to keep it sane) to fund the security and fairness of socialism

Eh, even though i disagree with the entirety of the tankies’ positions, I wouldn’t say they are unable to understand complex topics. Reading and understanding Marx alone is quite the herculean task. I’d say it’s less of complex understanding abilities and more of fanaticism for the unorthodox.

Capitalism doesn’t mind Fascism. But that doesn’t mean it is Fascism.

Fascist sentiments aren’t sprouting up all over the Western world for no reason, it’s a reaction to decades of grinding neoliberalism.

Well yes. Fascism is a populist reactionary subset of Authoritarianism.

But capitalism isn’t a political ideology. Which is why it doesn’t care if it’s being operated by a fascist government, a liberal government, or even a single party state masquerading as communist.

I agree that fascism is a reaction to bad times. But it’s not just neo liberalism. It showed up first as a reaction to economic bad times in a liberal monarchy. Italy and Germany were hardly neo liberal, the idea wasn’t even invented yet. And at the end of the day the very people who would run a Neo liberal economy end up being allies to a fascist state as long as they bend the knee.

It really is a reaction where the people who are hurting because of the bad economy are scammed by the very people profiting from their suffering. Neo Liberalism is just the latest in a long line of ideologies to cause the required economic environment.

This is like the ship of Theseus, but if instead of replacing one board at a time you just bought a new ship that looked kinda similar a bunch of times.
