This new bill, signed into law by President Joe Biden, includes a provision that limits access to gender-affirming care services for the children of people serving in the military.

I’m aware, but it’s still not vanishing overnight. We have had plenty of shutdowns in the past and this shit wasn’t urgent.

True. BUT… that doesn’t mean hurt doesn’t hurt.

          It’s not a group that deserves sacrifice…

Not like those active duty servicemembers with trans kids. They’re a group that deserves to sacrifice, and in major ways that go beyond a delayed paycheck.

              Biden. Didn’t. Write. The. Bill.

I agree with you, but let’s take this as far as it goes. Biden vetoes and then what?

The Republicans in congress suddenly change? Where’s the reality other than “Biden refuses to sign, no one gets paid this Christmas”. Veto power is strategic not really a blunt tool.

This isn’t a Biden thing it’s on the GOP and the voters that put them there. Congress wrote the fucking bill why is that Biden’s fault?

It’s amazing how you frame Biden’s surrender as necessary and not the GOP’s. They’re responsible for the bill, but despite every other shutdown being blamed on them, would just then refuse to fund the troops they claim they love so much. You’ve so internalized “they’re crazy, they’ll do anything”, which isn’t actually how any of these confrontations play out, that you think the only reasonable solution is “just give them what they want”.

So it’s amazing how I understand the three branches…. How they work and how specifically they are breaking down…
