I’m unaccustomed to having no responsibilities. I pulled out the work laptop one more time earlier and then put it back.

After the period of unemployment, in which life was awful and I had no purpose, it’s strange to suddenly have “acceptable” free time. Paid even!

Yeah that doesn’t sound like what I said so if you do it again I’m taking your work laptop off you. Tbh I half expect the company to fold between now and the 6th anyway so a repo man may just show up to collect on the asset anyway.

Honestly, I’m tempted to rip the ssd out and format it.

As for the company, I spoke to some more people today. Everyone is looking.

If it wasn’t a place of about 500 staff (the larger org), I’d be terrified. But I do have an interview on Tuesday thavk fuck.

I feel sad about all the ‘free’ work I have given my employers over the years. Extra hours at start/end of day, working through breaks, taking after hours calls etc. It seemed unavoidable because, well, that’s just workplace culture and if you don’t want to be viewed badly or looked over for promotions you just had to do it. Especially when you are younger and bills need paying and you’re trying to make a future for yourself. But its really not right. If it were an hourly paid job, those hours would be paid. But in salary paid jobs employers can really screw you.
