Not revolutionized but I’d like to see the teams direction.

The 2 new hostile mobs added feel like they’re meant for a horror game.

That doesn’t seem feasible, and if that were to happen it’s probably gonna be an even bigger company that would buy it.

There aren’t many bigger companies in the world than Microsoft, to be fair. In tech you’re looking at…Apple? And I think that’d be it.

Tencent is a bit further down the list from Microsoft in terms of overall value but I’d assume they’d be next in line to buy.

Stop adding random crap and if anything just make a proper modding API like they said they would a long time ago. Data packs are progress but people still need to go to something like Forge or Fabric for the real in-depth mods.

TBH I think the game has been heading in the right course. The devs are pretty in tune with the community and most complaints I’ve had with the new features have faded as I’ve encountered them properly.

    That said, c o m b a t r o l l

Revolutionized? I don’t think so. The core concept of the game hasn’t changed and stuff is getting added to it since. It’s so simple, there’s really no need to change anything, only just extending.

It’s like LEGO really, which too doesn’t really need any revolutionary changes.

They need to add “teleportation” portals in vanilla. I don’t like nether hubs and I have to enable cheats to use command blocks. I want achievements AND the ability to craft two blocks/portals that serve as a way to jump to each other without the need to add command etc. just place one at your base, explore, and place one where you set up something else like a mine or other build. Then activate. It would make it more fun IMO. And possibilities are endless for its applications.

There is technically a “vanilla” way to do it with end gateways unfortunately it’s very limited since it works in the end only , if it were to work in the over world it would be so good, I like this idea to have it in survival sounds like a Worthy end game treasure.

Yea I ended up having to give up achievements in my worlds so I could use command blocks for this. I made a base 10K block or so and I wanted to connect them. Nether hubs have flaws where you can end up in the wrong portal sometimes. So much easier with a pressure plate and command block. Then switch back to survival but I couldn’t get anymore achievements. Making a dedicated teleport block that either links to another or you can just input coordinates without it being a cheat is essential. Like some OG games Zelda, Mario, Crash etc have ways you can jump within the game universe when you have completed an area, no cheats needed. It should seem that there would be a special item that is added in an update that can make a portal or type of “table” to give this function. Also they need to fix maps on console. I want to mark my location and others like java with banners, no mods.

If you’re going to revolutionize it, it’s probably a good idea to make Minecraft 2. Lots of people won’t be happy about the new direction, no reason to alienate all these people. I can’t see myself playing a revolutionized Minecraft as long as Microsoft is in charge.

There can’t be a Minecraft 2. That is just Minecraft today. Each update builds on the last. A second version of the game would be redundant.

Eh, the same could probably be said of RuneScape but they tried revolutionizing the game and it alienated enough people that as a reaction they started a second game using old code from years before the update that split the community.

Now there’s RuneScape 3 and Old School RuneScape… and Old School has the larger community.

But it’s not broken so don’t fix it. [Minecraft]. They can fix bugs and game mechanics etc with updates. Almost anything can be changed, fixed or improved with that alone. If they make Minecraft 2, it would have to be completely different. Like MC story mode was a completely different game.

RuneScape 3 (RS3) wasn’t broken when Old School RuneScape (OSRS) was first announced or brought online either. It’s not doing well now, possibly to the point it’d be fair to call it broken, but that’s more of a slow decline over years that didn’t happen to OSRS.

A big part of why OSRS was created was because a lot of people didn’t like the ‘revolutionary’ changes made to RS3 and didn’t like the direction the game was going in. A big part of why it’s still around and now more popular than RS3 is because it’s treated differently by Jagex and its community.

I think the current dev cycle is harming hype for the game. The way snapshots work, there’s no surprises in the updates anymore, and like big creators do whole series in the snapshots before they even come out. There is a community issue of going into an update with it feeling “solved” unless you just blanket avoid update videos. Like when we get it on our server, I’m gonna speedrun get 2 pale logs, 1 sapling, and a creaking heart, get them into an ender chest, and the farm I think will work best is essentially already designed. There’s small hype as snapshots roll out but on the big day…few people play the new release (because like Doc said in his video today… everyone waits for mods) and most people have already experienced most of it via snapshot streamers. It feels like this dev cadence is destroying any hype for releases, and by making more releases, it’s putting strain on volunteers.

I don’t know a fix; the snapshot system is a great feedback mechanism but by putting the game out there nearly in full it removes hype. Also, the snapshots should give mod developers time to build, but it isn’t panning out that way. Like Bundles and armadillos weren’t gonna get more players to play/come back to the game, and the people already playing that use mods didn’t upgrade to it. There’s a very narrow subset of people who that update benefitted, but for a lot of volunteer devs it put a ton of work on their plates.

I think one major thing they could do is limit datapack and resourcepack revisions to 1.x releases, and not 1.x.y releases. As they put more functionality in datapacks to replace mods (for example, we’re done with LambDynamicLights over a datapack) the fact that there are 4 major pack versions in the 1.20.x cycle and 3 in the 1.21.x cycle is nuts. I think all pack format changes (that are not bug fix) should be held behind experimental. I also think the actual feature release that impacts tags and resource packs (like new mobs and items) really should be in 1.x releases.

    I would prefer

    1. Major changes to be locked to major 1.x version updates and limited to 2x/year
    2. Datapack and resource pack changes to be locked to the 1.x cycle
    3. Things in drops should be locked to experimental even if feature complete until the next 1.x
    4. 1.x.y should be non DP/RP changing updates (mechanic refinement for example like the minecart change or changing loot tables) and anything outside of that should be experimental toggle
    5. Minecraft should at a minimum refine the datapack format to enable storing variables in a format other than the scoreboard, and to support custom block and entity models, as it allows the replacement of a lot of mod functions with datapacks, and datapacks have a lower bar to entry to maintain and develop (they require no compilation).

I don’t think the majority of players play the game that way. I think the development cycle is exemplary for a project of this scope. We need more games with such an structured and open approach.

one request: for the love of God PLEASE just add the old terrain generation back but with the new biomes.

I want to feel like I can change the world with my own hands. I like flat land and to make one now I need to make a TNT duper (now requires a mod) to destroy a mountain that’s WAYYY too big anyways. They made the reliance on elytra worse instead of better.

I just want minecart hallways, but those don’t work large scale anymore :(

Most people should just use CurseFordge even if it bothers you for that stupid Overwolf app. Its just convenient if you dont want to tinker but still play mods. I’m honestly just blown away how all these years later I can still relate to Minecraft with my own damn kids. Though they dont particularly like Skyblocks like I do.

Oh That’s awesome ,see imagine if your kids could easily tinker with the game even without programming knowledge or a simplified API for it wouldn’t that be great? And that’s just a small example for the potential this game has all game modes, mods, improvements, that could make Minecraft even more playable to an even bigger audience across generations these are the ideas I’d like to hear in this thread because it’s fun

Theres literally a click and install GUI now. They have command blocks now. IMO opinion those are the friendly steps to getting into it. They dont need another layer of obfuscation. They need a fun journey that gets them used to the reality. Minecraft does not need help getting bigger. People need less black boxes and more thoughtful exposure.
