I honestly wish they sold something like this North America
You absolutely can buy a cheap little no-frills car these days. The difference is that we have a minimum level of safety required, so the cars look fancier, but if you want Mitsubishi Mirage you can just go buy one. Honda Fits are basically the modern ‘90s Civic hatchback and Toyota Yarises are right there.
the ability to work on it/maintain yourself is long going on japanese and western cars.
Not true. Of all the vehicles we own our 2009 Honda Fit is the cheapest and easiest to maintain. Its just a basic model with a 5 speed so there is little to break.
I’ve spent the last 25 years fixing cars and in my opinion, when it comes to turning wrenches,Japanese cars are not any different than American. Its the Germans that go overboard and make life difficult for any repairs.
