Got an interview tomorrow. Let’s see what happens. 🤞

Today was a particularly shit day. And I have to go to the stupid xmas party and pretend I’m excited to be around a bunch of people who make 350k+ a year.

You know that feeling when you’re too hot and tired to feel hungry but you know you’ll regret it in bed if you don’t eat anything… yeah that’s me right now.

I’ve worked 23 hours over yesterday and today. That’s ridiculous. I really hope I sleep in on Wed morning. Maybe make myself an omelette for breakfast. It’s a bit silly now how much I’m avoiding cooking in this kitchen. Right now all I need to do is soak some rice noodles in hot water, drain and rinse, and stir through premade vegan larb. C’mon, I can do this. It’s not even cooking.

Edit: yay I did it. In a pan, on the stove, with frozen veg to bulk it up. Now I have 3 meals worth of food. Easy.

That humidity-less breeze is beautiful. I’ve got the windows open to let it in the house.

The dishes are rotting in the sink and I’ve spent all day in bed. Feeling like shit in a way I can’t seem to climb out of.

    Made it down the bellarine.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been down here and my heart sank when I saw all the weeding / mowing I have to do over the next few. This was never going to be an actual break. On the plus the chillies have enjoyed themselves with this weather so that’s something.

Are you doing any tomatoes this season? Heard from my colleagues that theirs have exploded in size with the recent weather

Have 5 plants in and they seem pretty happy! Haven’t had much luck in the last few years with tomatoes so not going to jinx it :)

Noice! I am surprised a gardener of your calibre has had bad luck with tomatoes, but then again I have managed to kill a jade plant and two potted lemons, so… here’s to a bumper crop this year without too many pests!

Been at my new place of work for just over three months now and they have the new batch of people sitting with me, watching me work, and asking questions etc. also a manager (not my direct one, but same role) spoke to me yesterday about having my mind on my future with this company, as they need good people and are expanding in Melbourne. Feels quite good 😊

They still haven’t taken my parcels (now 3!) to the post office yet. Not quite sure what they’re doing with them. After sending them to Truganina for the night, they sent them through the airport this morning, then at 3pm they were marked as “in transit” at my suburb (which doesn’t have a post office, the local post office is in the suburb over). I think they may be holding them hostage

I just want my ABBA vinyl 😭😭

In better news, the department approved my transition from care funding, and purchased pretty much everything today. They sent me a Kmart gift card for general setup, and I got to choose a table, chairs, and couch. Also hit them up for a dryer, super energy inefficient I know, but I can’t stand air/sun dried socks. Everything else, sure no worries, socks, the rough feeling in my shoes all day makes me physically nauseous. That’s gonna be my version of avocado toast I guess

(I found a reasonably priced and small enough heat pump dryer, which apparently is the cheapest to run long run, and they agreed. So with infrequent use I’ll hopefully be ok)

Heat pump dryers are amazing. I did some baby/housesitting for.q friend on the weekend and used theirs. It takes ages but it was really good and apparently really energy efficient.

Good thinking to ask for it as part of the transition. You should have nice things.

Thanks Greg. Yeah, most out of home care places now have dryers, and always heat pumps. we have a 9kg heat pump that takes about 3-4 hours to dry a half load (half load because that’s as much as the 7kg front loader will comfortably take)

The last place had a top loader with a bigger capacity, and the dryer took about 5 hours. Never took note of the weights on them though

Sensible. Hit us with your queries - there’s a wealth of life skills in the DT. Some of which we regret having had to learn the hard way. But we’re all still alive and kicking, so must have done something right somehow.

Will do. Even something as mundane as a doormat - which greatly reduces the amount of stuff that gets trodden into the house. Not a top priority item, but once you’ve settled in and have done a few cleanings then worth thinking about getting one. There may be one already there anyway.

On nights when I’m feeling too lazy to cook something proper, but want something a bit higher effort than 2 min noodles/soup/basic toast, I make a bit of an everything toasty. Generally goes with ham, cheese, little bit of red onion, spring onion, a fried egg, and if I have it on hand, tomato. The egg and red onion can be fried in the toastie maker for ultimate laziness

Look, it sounds like the result of a hipster cafe making a depresso meal trendy and quirky, but it’s pretty good and a satisfying meal. Easy to remove or swap things as needed

I’m only close with one person in my high school friend group regularly and the rest I catch up with during holidays. They all wanted to do a Kris Kringle for some reason, despite the one I’m close with saying she doesn’t feel very close with the others.

Anyway, the person I got is a very serious, studious person who likes going to aesthetic cafes to post pictures on her instagram story. Went to a concert with her last year and she filmed the entire thing with the phone in front of her face. The artist wasn’t one we both loved or knew all of their songs but what happened to living in the present?

I don’t know if a gag gift would be well received, so I was thinking maybe getting her a disposable camera or something along those lines? Actually maybe not a disposable camera because she will complain about having to pay to develop it. Hmmm

Decided on a little lego flower kit. She’s going to Japan soon so cherry blossoms it is.
