    Death from malnutrition is not necessarily related to the overall abundance of a country, but to whether anyone gets left out to the point they literally have nothing to eat. Even a poor country like North Korea can manage a low death rate by simply making sure everyone is taken care of within the available resources. Most deaths from malnutrition in the US are from elderly people, suggesting a lack of support as the cause.

      This, exactly. There have been multiple news reports in the UK of people dying of starvation after their disability payments were stopped. This would be me if not for lemmygrad and hexbear.
