You know how quitting alcohol all at once after years of heavy drinking can actually kill you? That’s how I imagine it is for gaining self-awareness. I think there comes a point of being so embarassing that growing out of it is actually dangerous, because at any moment you might remember and cringe so hard you shatter like porcelain.
