    I’m registered as a Republican so I can vote in their primaries, but I’ll never vote for a Republican in a general election.

    One possibility - far left Dems and very moderate or even slightly leftie GOP voters dropped their party registrations as a form of protest. But in the end they can still turn out for Harris.
