I couldn’t bother to do it by hand, though, I just downloaded the HTML of “Quotations from Chairman Mao” from the Marxists Archive and wrote a little script to process it…
I probably should figure out how to do that at some point. while doing it I was definitely feeling the “this could be automated but I’m not 100% sure how I’d do it” with how standardized the format I was putting them into was lol. honestly I’m way too inclined to do shit like that when I should really just sit and think about how to do the automation. I remember when I was younger, during the 30th, which is to say, XXX, Olympics, I made a Twitter account and went around searching for people making the obvious joke there and retweeting them. plenty of people seemed to think it was a bot (reasonable assumption) but it was literally just a bored kid doing it all by hand 😆
