Just what the title says. It was one of my favourites on reddit and even helped me through some really hard times.

I turned 70 a few weeks ago and some of the joy in my life is the women I have loved and lived with in those 7 decades. I thought I knew something about women but was surprised to learn while lurking here the vast number of things I do not know about women.

Thank you for letting me lurk and learn. Thank you for your candid, sometimes painful to hear, comments. Thank you for speaking out!

This is not the best ending or even what I was trying to say here but here comes my, 10 yo, grandson’s first joke which he practiced for his Grammy and I.

As any shy little boy might, his feet fidget while he says “I might just be a little boy, but I know some things. Women don’t always tell the truth. I mean, take my mom… That’s not even her name!”

Whenever i seen this comunity on all on reddit i thought it was only about hating all men and that it should have been banned like all the other hate subreddits.

But it’s nice it helped some people.

I’m a man who loved lurking the reddit sub. It was never about hating men, it was about being a woman in a man’s world. A good place to feel good and remember we can rely on people for support when systems work to our disadvantage.

Same here. And if the above commenter hated it so much, why join the Lemmy community lol?

I viewed the sub as a way to commiserate with like minded individuals! Twas nice to see others helping with these issues that matter to us women!

It appeared on all, hot. Just as it did on reddit. Many times in the posts on reddit there were plenty of upvoted comment in fasion of “men are like…/men think… Etc” on some awful subjects. It was pretty sexist there. Like a way more extreme version of my sister having boyfriend problems then complaining to her girl friend. Maybe i’m just remembering wrong, it was a while ago as i soon after made an account and picked the few subreddits i cared about. Don’t worry, you won’t be seeing me here again. Have fun and remember men are human, just like women. Cheers

I actually wish you’d stay. Analyzing systemic patriarchal opression of women, internalized hatred of women and how it bleeds into our attitudes and way of thinking inevitably dabbles in generalization of the male behavior. I assure you 99% of women know not ALL men are the same. It’s the cultural implications that we need to look at. And culture is a general thing, applied in a bigger or lower degree to all individuals particularly in their childhoods.

Did you get that impression from evaluating the content posted or just from a flash judgement?

There were increasing amounts of venting posts in the past year or so, but there was also politically in the US a lot of stuff for women to be upset about and which directly affect relationships with men.
