Character looks down at a sword on the ground and asks “Hey little corpse of God, how’s it going?”
Next panel shows the sword surrounded by flames, angry scribbles, and those “menacing” kanji from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
A quiet beat panel
Character says “… Yea.”
Do you people also make memes off of your campaigns? Care to share some out of context?
Dead God trapped in a sword? Is there a hex-blade in your party?
And yeah I also make memes about my campaigns, they’re just usually not very funny
The punchline is that, while a warlock, he is built like a twink and useless in meelee combat. Very much not a hexblade type. So the dead-goddess sword does him no good at all.
Being informed of the lack of context was actually quite refreshing.
Imagine a God of War… getting assassinated. How disgraceful!
One player would take lines she found funny and put them in one of those super flowey fonts over a fitting image. A couple I particularly remember
“I know how capes work okay? I’m a bear”
“He almost dies, but then he chooses not to”
“Is anyone a heavy sleeper?” “Yeah, I am.” “But you’re an Elf?” “Yeah”

Little sidenote; those are katakana, not kanji.
To give more context, they’re entirely different writing systems; kanji are words and verb-roots written in Chinese characters, katakana simply represent the sounds of loanwords and onomatopoeia. In this case the “menacing” part isn’t represented by a word with meaning but by the sound of rumbling thunder, writtem as ゴロゴロ (goro-goro). There is no dictionary definition for this, only sound, so they’re written in katakana instead of kanji.
Japanese is such a difficult language
Thanks, tho. I learned something :P
