Hello, I would like to request to be added as a mod for !rva@lemmy.world. I don’t know if it’s best practice to keep the (inactive) original mod on, but the current mod hasn’t posted or commented since November of last year, nor have they responded to any of my DMs. I don’t have any grand plans, I just want to help monitor for spam, potentially find another co-moderator to carry the torch in case I get hit by a bus, and hopefully grow it into a more active community. I currently co-moderate two other small communities - !caps@lemmy.world and !asoiaf@lemmy.world. Thanks!

No problem. I added you as a mod and removed the old inactive mod. Note that, since your account is on a different instance than the community, you will not receive community reports. It’s a known bug in Lemmy. It looks like a pretty chill community so I don’t expect you will get many reports, but if you want to cover your bases then I recommend making a lemmy.world alt and adding it to the community mod team so you will have a way to see them. If you use the Photon front end (https://phtn.app/) instead of the standard lemmy ui then you can assign anyone as a mod regardless of whether they have posted/commented in the community.

@kwoodall@lemmy.world, mentioning you here for transparency in case you come back to Lemmy and wonder what happened.

Thanks, and noted about the community reports.

EDIT: In case anyone else is reading this thread and wants to track the issue w/ the federated community reports on GitHub, it’s issue #4744.
