I know it improves their odds. But its by virtue of making elections more democratic. You let progressive parties in and then democrats lose, because democrats dont represent progressives. You want to ban progressive candidates, democrats should become more progressive to compete.

Your logic is flawed because we live in a two party system. Third parties in our current setup are only spoilers. We need to address the foundational issues FIRST and then we can get more than even 3 parties in. Otherwise you’re going to get republicans fixing the system so they never leave power and then we’re all fucked forever with no chance of improvement.

You clearly don’t understand the meaning of first. And this is why progressives and the Green Party never make any headway. You think you’re working in a system that’s fair and will work if you just try hard enough. Except you only end up fighting the people most loosely aligned to yall and you end up letting the country move further and further to the right.

Explain it to me then. Lay out your game plan that changes the foundation, that doesnt involve electing a different party

How about they run a candidate for congress first? Why is it I only ever hear about the green party during presidential elections? That right there tells me they are nothing more then useful idiots for the right.

Good this is useful. But also wake me up when they manage to win a single state house seat or heaven forbid a us congress seat. Running a presidental candidate in the general as a spoiler only makes me hate the green party despite being alignment with a lot of their policies. It’s her right to run but it’s also my right to despise her and the party’s position for doing that. And I also don’t buy she’s doing it because of her “good” morals.

That’s the wrong conclusion. If two Democrats were on the ballot, they would likely still both lose because of first past the post voting. If you really want to support “making elections more democratic” push for ranked choice voting, or proportional representation.

What a surprise, guess who supports ranked choice voting? The green party! Yet another reason democrats fight so hard to keep them from competing
