Yeah it’s Russian disinformation that I go to the grocery store and cabbage literally costs $8 randomly. This is what comes of your JIT economics.

    1. No storage to level prices, leading to something of a rolling brownout on groceries.

    2. It gives companies way more leverage when they can arbitrarily withhold stock to control prices, something EVERY COMPANY DOES AND ADMITS TO.

Huh? You want this cabbage? No no no, it’s 30 seconds past due. It spent several days if not weeks being perfectly edible in a shipping container and will continue to be edible for at least a few more days, but we have to incinerate it.

Not going to lie i have no idea how people are surviving right now. I have a number of different sources of privilege keeping my little family afloat including an insanely good job and it’s a fucking struggle.

I mean uh… Russia or whatever

      fucking same, dude

honestly terrified that the conservative family members keeping us afloat will figure out my son is trans and cut off the support, so I do my best to have Great Reasons he can never go over there with us and otherwise try not to think about it too much

I’m really sorry to hear about your son having to hide his identity from your family. I hope things can improve.

I’m thankfully not in that bag of a situation. I’ve cut off my mother but my in laws are awesome. I’ve given my kid every chance to express themselves any way they would like but my nephew already likes to paint his nails and wear a purse and nobody’s upset so i figure I’m in a good place there.

I’m in a similar situation. Good job and relatively well-off parents that I have a great relationship with and can support me in case of emergency. I know a bunch of people on the other side, working 12 hour shifts in low-pay retail jobs while the store loudspeaker is droning on about wellness and breathing exercises and I realize I’d probably just fucking die if I were in their shoes. It’s just mind-boggling.

I hate how shitty it makes me sound to say it but i feel the same way with regards to having to work retail for 12 hours a day. I truly think I’d have to up all my meds for that.

To anyone having to do that, I don’t pity you I’m truly impressed at your fortitude and sheer will to persist

ya my partner and i both do well-ish for non-computer people in non-credentialed jobs and we don’t have kids but we’re still fucking sunk under rent and food costs to the point that paying off our escalating debt is a pipe dream. good to know that it’s all just a ‘vibecession’ though bc jaff bilzos increased his net worth by 40 bajillion soul shards or w/e

What’s funny about that word is that it essentially means buddy in my language

Not sure, but in my language tovarăș means buddy and camarad (comrade) would be more like a brother in arms sort if thing.

r/povertyfinance weirdos desperately picking apart someone’s $15/hr 36hr/week budget trying to look for any sign they can scream “personal responsibility!” at them or present literally made up social services they can access to help

anything to avoid blaming dems. including screaming about ruzzzian dizzzinfomayzia when anyone in the thread wonders about the economy.
