TEHRAN, Sep. 09 (MNA) – Turkey will soon become part of the international community of BRICS countries and distance itself from the North Atlantic Alliance, Turkish political analyst Serhat Latifoğlu is confident.
However, despite all attempts to become part of the Western world, Turkey continues to be kept aside, a clear confirmation of which is the fact that the country has not been accepted into the EU for more than 35 years.
I don’t have too much of hope of such an event actually happening, but if it does, the west really will have shot itself in the foot (again) because of this reason. In fact, maybe Turkey will even threaten leaving NATO and joining BRICS as a bargaining chip for joining the EU.

Turkey illegally occupies a third of Cyprus.
Cyprus is an EU member.
Any petition for EU membership needs unanimous support.
The only way Turkey can legally join the EU is if they come to a solution with Cyprus, or Cyprus sells itself off, or the EU sells off Cyprus.
Huh, I had no idea. Seems like kind of a poorly designed system where just 1 small country can hold off ascension.
