My mom was so happy talking about who compnala’s Republican cabinet member would be. so-true maybe it’ll be Liz Cheney.

I had to stop her and be like, that sucks. Why would you willingly cede power to your enemies? This betrays some of the worst political instincts.

      I hate this place lol

EDIT To be fair and balanced, half of Americans don’t even vote. I doubt they love this shit. A large minority of voters, too, are part of the same “I’m not loving it” bloc. It’s only the most vote-pilled ballot box brains that have this particular sickness.

They’re the most important voting bloc, though, so she’s really speaking to her base.

I’m American and it pains me.

It was the top of the hour so I decided to see what MSNBC was up to and they ran with that soundbite. Of course - they focused on the word “cult”. It’s a fundamental given at that network that two strong parties are needed.

You mean the primary where Trump participated in zero debates and was still coronated anyway?

I get that we’re all reflexive contrarians but come on.

The debates are literally the only time in the whole campaign where people get to see candidates interact with others in something that isn’t a photo op stuffed to the gills with the most ball-sucking sycophants they can find lmao

Trump attended as many primary debates as Biden did. The difference is that the RNC actually held debates, because they were running a competitive process. The DNC just backed Biden as a matter of course. No consultation, no attempt to present options to voters, not even a token attempt at an open discussion. The primary was a procedural formality. That is what a coronation looks like. Trump, despite his many, many flaws, put himself forward and won the Republican primary. Not attending the debates was a dick move, but given his popularity with Republican voters, and his overwhelming victory at the end of the day, I find it unlikely that it would make a difference. Hell, there’s an argument that it might have hurt his chances.

I’m just saying that Walz’s position that the Democrats are a functioning party while the GOP is a cult rings a bit hollow. The DNC unwaveringly supported Biden as he was slurring his words and falling down stairs until he eventually quit due to not wanting to suffer an embarrassing loss. The GOP had their shit together while the Democrats were scrambling to replace their candidate. The fact that they seem to have avoided catastrophe doesn’t change the fact that they were the ones who steered themselves into catastrophe in the first place. A little humility wouldn’t be misplaced.

Of course - libs will be excited because he called the republicans a cult and he did so in the right way - without referring to them by name.

Holy mother of fuck - the top comment is ~1,200 words.

I just want to clear a few things up in response to conservative’s petty, misinformed, and unprincipled attacks on Walz…

What a fucking dork. That account has multiple tl;dr rage essays about Biden and Trump’s records. There’s even a wall of text about how totally legit the Muller investigation was (despite, you know, not actually arresting Trump and throwing him in prison).

I don’t know if it’s just a lib coping and trying to understand reality without the tool of material analysis or a DNC psyop. Probably both.

        Muller investigation

Justification of the Mueller and his investigation is super old school. Usually if he’s mentioned in r/politics - it’s by libs who are mad Trump didn’t go to jail.

        I don’t know…

In a way I hope it’s a DNC psyop and not unpaid essays written by some poor schnook at a keyboard who’s trying hard to never doubt American exceptionalism.

I almost feel sorry for liberals. The republicans have it so easy. Usually all they need is a tautology/mantra to say to themselves like… “America is exceptional because it’s exceptional.” But liberals look at the world differently so they often have to create annoying mental constructs to explain how America is always exceptional. It must be exhausting for them. They need to explain and rationalize that America is still an exceptional country even if they know local homeless situation is awful or they hear their relative got fucked over by his insurance company to the tune of $80,000 or they learn that a black coworker with a pricey BMW routinely gets hassled by the cops simply because he’s black or the libs are considering sending their kids to an expensive private school they can’t afford because their public school system is awful.

People in deep denial hate it when somebody makes them try to wake up. When a leftist makes a simple, factual observation like the homeless should be housed - I think some libs aren’t even aware they’re punching left. They think they are justified in attacking somebody trying to tear down America.

I’d link this article to the next person I saw saying racist nonsense about other countries, but I also know they’d blame it on California being communism.

Sometimes I wonder if Obama was truly naive and genuinely believed the US is so democratic and diverse in governance when he condemned Raul Castro for leading a one party country.
