Doubt Israel would let it happen.
And doubt even more that Hamas would keep their word.
Yeah, quite likely on both parts, but the world has tried
a one state solutionthe status quo (I’ve been corrected, current situation is not called one state) for how many decades now and we’re seeing the results of that. Rather they try setting up an independent Palestine and working with the issues that come from that than just keep the genocide going. Two state, interim UN appointed government, transition to Palestinian elected leadership maybe?. Easier said than done for sure but going down the current path is well… Not going great
Agree. It’s time for an adult to break up this fight and establish stability.
The UN transitional Palestinian government can work. Much like the post WW2 Japan and Germany. But you need it in place for 20 years to build up that society from scratch. Maybe they can have a democratically elected legislature sooner, but the actual government would need to a UN run for a long time.
Also, Israel should pay for it as war crime reparations.
Plus some heavy peacekeepers forces to smack the Israeli government down if they start acting like dicks again.
The Palestinians had a transitional government since the Oslo Accords in 1993. What are you talking about?
A Marshal plan style government, not an extremist controlled oligarchy.
The Palestinian Authority is secular and has Christians in it. This proves yet again you have no idea what you are talking about. The Palestinian Authority is not Hamas, often it was in direct confrontation with Hamas.
The one state solution was never tried and never seriously proposed beyond some activist groups.
The two-state solution has been “in progress” since the Oslo Accords in 1993 to establish a Palestinian state on the territories occupied in 1967. The only party that prevented any actual progress is Israel with the continued expansion of illegal settlements and the 1995 assassination of the prime minister who signed the Oslo Accord. Since then successive Likud governments left the Oslo Accord in a zombie status before they officially killed it this month in the Kenesst.
Why are you talking about what you don’t know? It is frustrating to read people suggest the two-state solution as if the past 30 years never happened.
I suppose I’m misinformed here. As a person raised Muslim who lived several years in the middle east, most conversations I’m part of describe the whole area there pretty much being under control/oppressed by Israel, so a single state with a very limited Palestinian government, and in my had linked that to the concept of the single state solution I’ve heard about but never looked into.
Thanks for the correction, didn’t realize single state is not what you call the current situation
Sorry if my response was harsh. It is very important to get the history right. Zionists always falsely claim that Palestinians never tried peace. It is the Israelis not the Palestinians who assassinated their leader when he made peace.
Iran wouldn’t let it be either. If Hamas fell apart another proxy would be getting setup asap.
Taking away agency and legitimacy from the Palestinian resistance and suggesting they are all Iranian stooges. I wonder where this is coming from…?
I think it is important to draw the distinction between Hamas, which is at least a heavily Iran supported organization, and the Palestinians, who are another one of the victimized peoples caught in the middle.
The Palestinian Authority is secular and was a partner in the Oslo Accords and peace process. Where did that get the Palestinians? Nowhere.
The Palestinians secular or otherwise, cannot meet people half way who don’t want to meet them at all. The Israeli right which has dominated politics since the assassination of Rabin in 1995 -assassinated because of the peace with Palestinians- has zero desire to recognize any Palestinian state on any part of Palestine.
Observation of where their arms and a sizable portion of their funding comes from.
By that logic the US is the one preventing peace in the Middle East given how much weapons and political cover they give Israel. The US hasn’t even been holding Israel accountable for the expansion of illegal settlements despite the Oslo Accord and two-state promise since 1993.
Iran is filling a gap that was left when Arab governments stopped caring about the resistance. Otherwise Iran being Shia is unpopular with the Sunni Palestinians.
Oh and most funding actually comes from Qatar and other governments not just Iran. They also receive many donations from concerned people around the world, I am one concerned person.
Found this comment down voted with no response. I guess your facts really make some people angry.
Sorry if my initial response was harsh. I hate seeing Zionist talking points repeated.
I am willing to try again and take the time to explain the history to you with sources and evidence and you can draw your own conclusions.
Doubt Israel but not Hamas.
Hamas has shown good faith and willingness to make peace for years, or at least since 2017 when they accepted 1967 borders. Israel and the US are the ones preventing a two-state solution. The Likud Party rejects a 2-state solution since establishment in the 1970s and still does to this day.
Why would you doubt the party most willing to make peace and negotiate other than colonialist chauvinism?
