The newest Superman show has him as a himbo dating a tomboy Lois Lane who looks like Casca from Berserk and in the most recent episode Lois used the power of love and hope and feelings to break through Brainiac’s mind control and bring Clark back into control of his own body

The entire point of him is it’s not his powers that make him a hero it’s the choices he makes and the fact that he has a good heart and acts out of selfless love

being somebody you want to hug makes you weak

Certainly it’s feminism’s fault that women feel a need to leave the room when he’s around.

This is why Superman Returns (despite ultra-problematic people involved in the production) is my favourite Superman movie, and possibly my favourite superhero movie. That particular Superman isn’t a bully, he doesn’t go looking for fights, he doesn’t spend half the runtime inflicting violence on people, he’s not even mopey. He mostly spends his time saving strangers’ lives and spending quality time with the people he loves and basically being a big goofy friendly teddy bear. Even the climax of the movie doesn’t involve a fight scene, just him doing the right thing even though it’s insanely difficult and dangerous for him. It’s the pure platonic essence of a good Superman story.

And if James Gunn wants to make that kind of Superman movie, I’ll see it in a heartbeat, even if I hate 99% of all other superhero-type media, because it means James Gunn fucking gets it.
