In Michael Heinrich’s biography of Marx, he says that the name comes from ‘Marcus’. It doesn’t mean much, but I still think about it occasionally.

Do you mean that first book of his upcoming 4-5 book series on Marx? If so what did you think of it, it’s on my bookshelf right now, been planning on reading it this year.

Yeah. I have a bad habit of quitting books about 1/3 in once I get the gist and the initial hook is gone. That’s what happened with this book.

It was decent enough; about as dry as you would expect of a biography, but still interesting. The first book is about his upbringing and young adulthood, and contained a lot of facts I didn’t know about, like how Marx’s thought was influenced by his close relationship with his father-in-law.
