cannot think of a better way to cause people to not report their rapes than this, bang up job SFPD

At least it’s reassuring that everyone in the article says they are committed to ending this practice 😬
very much begs a number of questions like:
- how common is this practice across america?
- how many women and men has this been done to, and we just don’t know?
- can the police even be trusted to not do this practice going forward, even though it’s almost certainly illegal even under current laws and should probably be under future ones too?
Probably a lot more common practice than many would think. Cops are convinced their job is to ‘catch criminals’, to the extent that they treat everyone as a potential lawbreaker. It’s clear in the way they generally interact with the public, treating each person as a threat to their life.
We absolutely cannot trust the police not to do this, even when it is explicitly illegal. However, we can and should make it explicitly illegal because there should be a strong message sent.
boudin has unsurprisingly and officially dropped the charges–which i should nonetheless note is something i would only expect a few other american DAs to do
Jfc this is kamala harris levels of sociopathy.
…kamala harris levels of sociopathy.
Please, explain.
Sure, before she became the US vice president, she was an absolutely vicious prosecutor in San Francisco. Here’s some of the awful things she did while there.
I had no idea about any of this. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
No probs!
