    Riding a replacement Line 1 shuttle is always such a painful experience. I wish they could extend the Sheppard subway west to the Spadina branch, that way whenever there is an outage they could send trains downtown via the other way, which would be still faster than trying to make it down the super narrow Yonge street by bus.

    I love TTC memes. Please post more if you have em.

    Edit: or fuck it just add junctions and one subway gauge rail on Eglinton for emergency use cause that shit don’t seem to be opening anytime soon…

      Yeah, I made the mistake of trying to ride the shuttle from Bloor–Yonge to Spadina. Bloor was under construction so the bus took a crazy long loop. Seemingly getting lost. Then after stopping a while at Dupont station they just announced that it was the last stop. On a bus labelled with route 1! It would have been way faster to walk, which I would have done if I had known that it was going to be absurdly slow and drop me off at the wrong station in the end.

      I do love the TTC but sometimes things go very wrong. I actually filed a feedback report that if the shuttle isn’t going to follow the route it should have a different route number or some sort of warning before you board. They responded and said something like “sometimes buses take different routes”.

    @kevincox
    It’s such a visceral thing, with no need for numbers.

    So of course I made numbers.
    Comparing max capacity, you need 19.6 buses per one toronto subway train. Seat to seat, 13.2 buses per train. And if the train was so empty that everyone had a seat, it would STILL cram 7.2 buses full like a can of sardines.

    Of course, buses also move slower so this is only a measure of the necessary frequency. The size of the fleet is actually much worse.

    Of course… Still better than cars!
