Nice… That looks a lot like my kitchen some mornings. (I have the same kalita gear, and moka) Do I see you using an aeropress filter in the moka? I read about doing that but haven’t tried it yet.

I do! It creates more of a clean taste and less percolator/cowboy coffee with a lot of micro fines in it, I’d recommended. The filters are like 500 for $8 I think, it’s really a one time purchase.

Awesome, sounds good. I think I have a stash of them somewhere (from the old aeropress days!). I’ll have to dig them out or just order some. Thanks!

I mean I could be mistaken, but it looks like they just did?

Usually adding a paper filter like that will reduce the fines that make their way through the metal filters, so you get a cleaner cup. Moka is already a stronger and heartier brew, so removing some fines would likely make for a smoother cup. Also could potentially increase the pressure, even just slightly, so can grind just a hair coarser.

Yes, all of the above. The aeropress filters fit pretty well in to the upper size moka pots like my (4 cups I believe). You just wet it to top part’s mesh screen at the bottom before screwing it on. James Hoffman has a good video on the moka pot and this process!
