    The fuck are “China hands”?

The (paywalled) article doesn’t explain it and it’s not a phrase anyone uses.

Somehow I doubt the west will listen to this. Seems far more likely they’ll crank it up to 11 and insist that only white sexpats and white supremacists are to be trusted on China, no one else.

Good news is that trust in the mainstream media in the west is at all time low, people are starting to realize how much they’re being lied to. Gaza genocide might’ve been the turning point here where it became undeniable. However, another aspect of the story is that is China opening up means a lot more people will have direct experience seeing China. The whole visa free travel that China started to implement is an excellent way to get people to see what it’s really like.

I think the establishment is prepared for that, at least when it comes to China. Everyone I know who is firmly “anti-China” got there because of youtubers, not news sites. I think a lot of the west would rather hold onto their orientalism and racism rather than admit they’ve been lied to about China.

It’s possible, but ultimately I don’t think the west even matters all that much at this point. Most of industry and resources are in BRICS countries or countries that are aligning with BRICS. Western economies are shrinking in front of our eyes, and will likely be going into serious recessions in the coming years. Meanwhile, the rest of the world will be growing. I think there’s a good chance the rest of the world just moves on while the west tears itself apart.
