    I’ve been a McLaren fan since Häkkinen drove in the 90s. The new papaya liveries just do nothing for me. And all this pandering to sponsors with one-off liveries erodes tradition.

    It’s almost as bad as with IndyCar, where they have completely different liveries from one race to the next. Although, weirdly enough, the McLaren IndyCar liveries look so much better.

    Can’t say I’ve been keen on their livery for a while now. It’s a shame we have so much bare carbon for the weight limit, cars look nicer with proper liveries.

    The two main problems are that there’s not enough Chrome - the black parts on the side pods would look better if that was silver too, but I guess they’re limited by weight.

    And the Chrome colours on the wheel covers makes it look messy. I think if they were a solid orange then they’d look a lot tidier.

    I prefer this to their normal livery this season but that isn’t saying a lot.

    As with all livery reveals, I’ll reserve judgement until it’s on the track, in natural lighting, seen through broadcast cameras.
