Scene got hit hart last year and so it continues. Some pirates are not willingly to support the scene and this is what we get. Others workaround this by introducing ads.
So the whole donation thing is proven once again as ineffective since you cannot expect anyone to invest thousands of dollars from his own pockets, get the heat and pressure and then get nothing in return.
