Who shall join me this Day of Hump? :D
We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!
Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.
Maybe you’re new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.
It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol!
Really struggling after a traumatic experience in detox this past weekend. They refused me the proper protocol of meds, and I should have left AMA. Instead I stuck it out and ended up having a 3 minute long seizure while they tried to figure out where their rescue meds were.
Ended up in the ICU with a brain bleed and broken tail bone from the resulting fall. Just got out today and I want nothing more than to drink
it’s good you are here today 😊
When I feel like drinking, I try to remember that nothing good will come from it.
Well guess what? You don’t have to anymore.
Sounds like you’ve come really far, you’ve got this
Wishing you a speedy recovery ❤️
Shit man, that’s rough. I’m sorry you went thru that. I’m glad you’re here and not drinking tho
That’s a rough one, I hope you never have to go through something like that again and I’m glad you’re here with us today.
Get well soon! ❤️🩹
I will not drink today
Just stopping in. Still going strong. Currently at day 885.
That is fantastic!! Congratulations
Hope I make it what far some day.
I will not drink with you all!
Good morning, fellow sobernauts, IWNDWYT 😁!
I’ll join in
Going to see my addiction counselor in about an hour; IWNDWYT!
May I ask how it was? I’ve never seen a counselor specific for addiction.
Today was my first day meeting her. My regular therapist suggested I see her on the off weeks I’m not seeing him. It wasn’t too much more than an introduction, swapping a few stories, and getting to know each other.
I’m not 100% sure if she’ll be able to help me as much as the other clients she has because her history and focus are on methamphetamine. I’m willing to keep an open mind and give it some time to see if she has anything in her toolkit I can apply to my own life/addiction though.
She seems really focused on celebrating sober living and has a lot of positive reinforcement for me so far, so I’d say it’s a decent start.
My sister in law is a recovering meth addict but has been using AA to recover from both. In the corporate world we talk about “transferable skills”, I think this can apply for your therapist. :)
