    Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

I’ve done the 4 regional phenomena and all the geoglyphs, I’m clearing off some side quests before continuing (finishing?)

I’ve decided to try and find every bubbulfrog before I actually finish the game, I’m at the same point as you and I’m not ready to let it go! It’s been so much fun.

(Might regret that by the time I get to the last few frogs haha…)

Not sure why but I bounced off of Tears hard. I played and finished Breath, but within 5 hours I’d had my fill with TotK.

Suspect it’s a me thing more than the game.

I think it is a great game - I’m loving the sandbox feel and the “anything goes” way of traversing the map, solving problems etc - but I admit it doesn’t have the same sense of wonder and immersion (I think?) as BOTW somehow.

It’s also the first time I’ve made use of any item duplication glitches (it seems like the only “fun” / non-grindy way of making use of the new building mechanic) so maybe that, plus being able to just fly around everywhere on DIY contraptions, has taken some of the fun / point out of wandering around the map 🤷‍♂️

I’ve been getting back into No Man’s Sky, I hadn’t played in a while so I’m trying to catch up with the recent updates. It’s always been a great chillout game for me, just exploring systems and finding odd new life forms.

Tears of the Kingdom every evening since it arrived. It’s so good.

My steam deck is gathering dust somewhere, barely used since I got it!

I got myself one of these little RG35XX handheld emulation devices for £60 and stuck on some custom firmware. I’ve been having blast. About halfway through a bug fixed Final Fantasy VI ROM hack, also playing some Zelda Oracle of Seasons and Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga.

Yeah, I got it on a bit of a whim and wasn’t expecting much. The stock firmware is poor, but GarlicOS is great. A wee bit of mucking about to get things nicely scaled, but I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Bloodborne on the PS5. Never played it before but after falling down the Elden Ring hole last year I’m slowly working my way through the From series. I beat Sekiro over Christmas, now I’ve got this in my sights.

Also thinking of starting up a smaller, less… mentally draining game to play on nights where I just want to kick back and relax after the kids have gone to bed. Any suggestions?

      Sorry but ‘Elden Ringhole’ lol.

As for relaxing games - Stardew Valley springs to mind. I really enjoyed Slime Rancher too, and there’s now a sequel. If you want a game to just shut your mind off to, Diablo is good for that.

Played some Starview before the kids came along and kind of bounced off it.

Maybe the time is right though. Animal Crossing absolutely owned me for a year, maybe it’s Stardew’s turn.

I downloaded Hitman from game pass last night and managed to get an hour or so in. Haven’t played a Hitman game in a long time so quite enjoyed it.

Otherwise it’s been the usual rotation of Rimworld and Forza, but also very much looking forward to Cities Skylines 2. Not sure I’ve ever been this excited about roundabouts.

Tears of the Kingdom, still. But also I played my first game of Starfinder and it was really fun! I’ve mostly played D&D 5e so it was a big step up in complexity, but everything just sort of…makes sense, so it wasn’t too much of a shock to the system. Scraped through session one by the skin of our teeth after a brawl in a cyberpunk nightclub, excited to see where the rest of the game goes!

Just started on the Mass Effect LE for the very first time - after spending waaaaay too long trying to make Shepherd look deccent, I’m finally underway and enjoying so far!

Now that Steam Next Fest has finished I’ll probably go back to the usual habits of playing Apex, Gunfire:reborn, and whatever other easy games I can play with 1-2 friends.

But while it was here Warhaven sucked a lot of my time. When that game comes out it’ll find its way into the above rotation just by virtue of fitting the usual formula of; party with friends, kill people, achieve objective.

Otherwise, I’ve got a backlog a mile long of single-player games I bought and wanted to play, but I just can’t stick to any one of them for long enough to feel like I’m really making a dent in it. Further to that I feel like when I have the time to play games, it always overlaps with time to play games with friends, and that always trumps playing a solo game for a few hours.

    Vampire Survivors on my phone.

Addictive as hell. Completed 100%, now going through and completing every level with every character. about 25% of the way there currently.
