I feel like this is not so much a bug as just a fact of living in medieval times. They drank more booze than water. I say they should keep the ale consumption as is and just make it easier to grow hops. I want my villagers sloshed to the gills in historically accurate fashion god dammit.
Small beer and ale was pretty dilute. Somewhere between 0.5-3% alcohol. In modern terms somewhere from non-alocholic beer to light beer range. Also there’s a lot of myths about this, medieval people did also drink water, they knew to boil it or get it from fast running streams/deep wells, even if they didn’t understand why. It wasn’t just that beer was safe, they liked drinking beer for the same reasons we do. The taste and getting a little buzzed. Also, it was a way to store excess calories that would otherwise go bad. Similarly with wine/grapes.

I didn’t say they only dtank beer.
Sorry was referencing what you said specifically, it’s just a real pop history fact that gets thrown around.
is Manor Lords actually good? is it Historically Accurate (derogatory) ? i wanted to get into it but as far as I could tell, there’s only two options for women leaders and in classic fashion one is white and young and the other is white and old :/
I’m hoping that’s not the case, it sounds like an interesting city builder to try out
It’s got good bones, but they are bare.
It’s very pretty, the fundamentals are well done, its satisfying. The animations stand out- you can watch a villager build each building beam by beam.
But after you set up food growing and a few production chains, there isn’t much left to do. This could be a great game in a year or three, but its not there yet.
the character creation is kinda superfluous at this point, you can spend loads of time naming them, making a coat of arms etc. but in my experience it never comes up anywhere, nor does your leader character. there’s no real plot or politics to speak of, it’s just a medieval city simulator. there are some policies you can enact but the only impact is just ‘raise taxes = people sad’ and the like. maybe in future more stuff will be added but at the moment it’s not got anything i would consider problematic
there are already mods to change things like character avatars so you could potentially just make whatever character portrait you like and put that in the game
I really enjoy the concept of this game but I would be really pissed at its current state if I hadn’t gotten it for “free” on Game Pass. This is in waaaaay to rough a state to be charging $40 for.
And yeah, I get that it’s a small (I kinda doubt the claim of 1 man, but okay) team but it’s being backed by a publisher and just isn’t in a good enough state even for early access.
I’m told that’s a lies my teacher told me thing, and folks did drink water from wells and whatnbot that were known to be safe.
has anyone else had the issue where livestock just doesn’t get bought for years on end? every playthrough I set a family at the livestock trader to buy like 50 sheep, and 3 years later they’ve bought 1, even if I had money to spare in all that time
