(Update* Tesla went above and beyond to fix my truck today and get it back to me this afternoon. Very happy. The Tesla Pensacola service center stepped up and did an awesome job. They even detailed the truck before I picked it up. It was all covered by warranty. I’m very pleased.)
No, they’ll not learn.
Hahah that’s not above and beyond. That’s just doing the bare minimum of what is legally required. I wonder when these people will actually spit elons dick out of their mouths.
How does a truck with 35 total miles need detailing?
Maybe the zip ties holding the panels together needed tightening.
Do you guys in the US not have laws protecting you from shit like this?
US laws only protect those with money
We have lemon laws, but Tesla fanbois are too stupid / loyal to use them.
Lemon laws protect from defects, and require a manufacturer who can’t repair the defect to take back the car for a refund.
This type of behavior is usually an attempt to claim those don’t apply because it’s user error or damage while operating, rather than a defect. It’s complete BS to make that claim, but I guess if it means some people won’t stand up for their rights, the manufacturer is up the cost
Non FreedomBoii here; is that the law that says you just gotta make the best of life with what you’re given?
@AA5B@lemmy.world said it but replied to me instead of to you.
A “lemon” law says that if someone sells you a “lemon” (a vehicle that’s prone to failure or needs a lot of repairwork), they have to either repair it or take it back. But it still requires the customer to initiate legal action (or at least, threaten legal action). Once the lawyers get involved, the dealerships or whatever back down… because lemon laws are usually clear and easy to prosecute over.
But it still requires that initial effort. If these people just… sit back and take the abuse from Tesla, nothing will happen.
They also adore all of the looks they get in their lemon. So even though these trucks are shit automobiles, they delivered on the reason every single one of these buyers’ top priority. They are the center of attention wherever they go.
Yes we do have laws, and probably would have ended up in a lawsuit, however, reading the article sounds like this is (so far) one case and though the service center tried to get out of it originally did end up taking care of the issue. Still super shitty that they denied it at first
It should have had a bumper to bumper warranty. Just because Tesla does stupid shit like this and it becomes a news article, doesn’t mean all the cars in the US are like this.
Laws don’t protect us. They bind us. Laws protect Tesla because money gives you all the advantages in the US legal system. Magnuson-Moss will almost surely cover this but again every single individual will have to fight to get it covered.
Dude I’ve been seeing more of these around my city and HOLY shit they look like ass. Wavy body and stains all over them. could never be me
Yeah, they look terrible standing there alone in promotional photographs, but when you see them in traffic surrounded by normal cars it’s astonishing how much stupider they look. However, I’m a school bus driver and it’s depressing how insanely excited the kids get when they see one.
in defense of actual reality: kids can be pretty fucking stupid sometimes. but they have lots of potential. Don’t be too disappointed when they say dumb shit.
Most of the time*
I thought the Lamborghini Countach was amazing when I was a kid. I also thought it was on par with the Pontiac Fiero. Kids are dumb.
Fiero was sexy af change my mind.
I miss the racer cars zipping up and down I-35 like it was some kind of test track.
Now, if some guy with more money than sense wants to drop six figures on a car, more often than not it’s one of those comically oversized trucks.
I used to think hot wheels were the peak of car design as a kid lmao. I’d take it with a grain of salt
Genuinely amazing how the guy who greenlit the Tesla Roadster because it reminded him of his wrecked McLauren looked at this ugly metal brick and thought “This is going to revolutionize the industry”.
Why would anyone buy a Tesla shit-box?
There are a couple around where I live, and it makes me laugh every time I see one. Might as well just tattoo dumbass on their foreheads.
Impress the ladies. It just shouts I have disposable income and not much in the way of good taste.
99% of the women I’ve ever met don’t give a shit about cars. And those that do would consider this thing ugly as shit.
I actually live about 5 miles from that Tesla service center. There is a shit-load of Teslas parked around that place. Last time I drove by it looked like they were running out of room…
low-resolution electric pickup
Truth be told, it does look like one of those early 3D games
It’s lower poly than the truck in Stunt Race Fx on SNES
Oh, I get it now. Bad taste was the whole point. Anyone who buys one of these is clearly an idiot and more likely to accept stupid shit like this, so they try shit like this first and then resolve the cases that make the news and get paid by the ones who just accept it.
Anyone who buys one of these is clearly an idiot
Don’t underestimate the power of marketing. Plenty of smart people are insulated, deluded, and gaslit into believing incredibly stupid shit.
Tesla has marketing? I thought Elon bragged how they never advertise.
Ha. I hadn’t heard that one before. What a fucking guy.

Haha, fool bought a cybertruck.
