“Unangenehmungsfreude” was my German friend’s best shot. Translates roughly to “discomfort-joy”.
On the fediverse front, platforms as reasonably well defined spaces seems to me something that is both natural and useful but which is kinda missed or ignored by the ideals of the fediverse, in that they are likely to just happen anyway, and are happening, but kinda run counter to the ideal of everything federating everywhere.
