Yep. Heard great things about the game, but I’m waiting till it’s on steam to get it. I refuse to give Epic a dime. Exclusivity deals hurt consumers.

Yeah, while I wouldn’t be against decent competition for Steam, exclusivity deals aren’t something involved with that. I’m not sure MBAs even know how to compete with Steam.

Though maybe, at some point, some capitalist will realize that there’s a ton of money to be made from providing good products where the primary design concerns aren’t about maximizing profit or ensuring future profit can be made.

Exactly. Win customers over by providing a better experience that makes people want to use your platform over a competitor, not because they’re forced to

You do realize Epic owns Unreal. The store, game engine, both are giving the same people money.

“I’m not going to give Nestle a dime of my money!” While eating Hot Pockets.

Yes, I do realize the money goes to the same place. My argument is not that Epic should go bankrupt. My argument is that I don’t want to encourage or support the Epic Store.

“vote with your wallet” - my vote says I approve of unreal but disapprove of epic store.

          Okay?

2 wrongs don’t make a right. That said, Microsoft does this much less frequently than Epic and mostly just with first party games.

Here’s a list of Microsoft Store exclusives. I don’t see a whole lot of triple A games on there.

Starfield was on Steam at launch, as was Halo Infinite. Microsoft has been moving away from exclusivity. But how dare they keep Solitaire all to themselves, right?

I thought I read Microsoft will launch all PC games on steam going forward.

That’s not a money reason or a store related reason. That’s really on the developer. Mac is a different architecture. Often times Mac versions require extra development.

Linux is gaining more ground not because of a store or the developers themselves, but because Proton makes the windows versions of games run on Linux.

My argument was about exclusivity deals, not technical compatibility.

                  Yeah, the store doesn’t matter

If it’s on a platform (os) then it’s on the platform

If you want to complain about exclusivity it would be mac vs windows vs linux vs freebsd vs xbox vs Nintendo vs PlayStation

Almost didn’t buy it due this, but ended up getting it on PS5. Refuse to use epic even for their free games.

I pirated it because Epic Games. What an absolute banger of a horror game. Legit in my top 3 favorite games of all time. They’ll get my $ when they come to steam, if they do.

Now watch 505 launch Control 2 on steam and just roll in money.

Epic is literally taking a shotgun to their own leg.

Can they release it on steam? Unfortunately this might be where epic sticks to its guns and won’t release it on steam, since if they did why would I ever get it on epic, I will just wait a few years. One way they could have gone is have it maybe at twice the price than what it will be on Epic. But this is like the streaming wars, first Netflix gave us what we wanted, everything in one place, and now that has led to a lot of great shows and movies being unknown due to the fragmentation of the platforms. Steam was ahead of its time, has a massive following and if it doesn’t get greedy will hopefully stay the place most relevant PC gaming platform

I bought this game on EPIC games because I wanted to play it. I bent over backwards to get this thing to run well because I wanted the full experience. I built a windows PC just for it.

It’s a pain playing it on Linux I’m basically forced to run a modified pirated version of a game I paid for to get a consistent experience.

I hope that maybe they will release a complete edition of Alan Wake 2 on steam when Control 2 finally hits because this is the kind of game that people want access to the back catalogue to theorize about.

They didn’t release a physical version for ps5 so i didn’t buy it. I’m guessing I’m not the only one who ended up disenchanted with this game’s distribution.
