Do you prioritise visuals or frame rate?
Once again this week, there’s been a lot of talk about “Quality” and “Performance” modes on Xbox Series X|S in relation to the Fallout 4 next-gen update, and so we thought this would be a good chance to poll the Pure Xbox community on how often you typically opt for the best visuals over the best frame rate when you’re given the choice.
The team here at PX generally sides with performance modes where possible, as we like to prioritise a 60FPS output over improved graphics at 30FPS. That said, there are a few situations where 30FPS arguably offers the best experience, especially in games that feel a bit more slower-paced and cinematic in their approach.

Maybe just to see what it looks like but I always take 60.
Probably only the people that honestly can’t tell the difference between 30 and 60 get to enjoy their beautiful games 😭
I’m seriously almost jealous of them lol
All games I’ve played on quality have been like playing in soap. I thought Forza Horizon 5 was garbage compared to Forza Horizon 4 - when I then realized that I’d never disabled quality mode.
People must be affected. If they are not, they must be blind!
I turn off quality mode so quickly I’m not even sure why they include it!
I like when stuff looks good and is playable
I only pick quality mode if it can maintain 60 fps.
Anytime quality mode has an uncapped framerate or 40fps target. VRR is a wonderful thing.
