Hello everyone!
For the last two weeks, I have been working on an Android app for Lemmy as a side project. It’s called Lemming and has now reached a state where I want to make it publicly available. The app is not yet available on the Play Store, so if you want to install it, you can download the APK file from Google Drive.
Here are some key features that Lemming has right now:
- Support for multiple accounts
- Swipe to vote for posts and comments
- Navigate comments with the volume buttons
- Long press on a comment to collapse it
- Write posts and comments with a text editor that supports text styling and a preview
- Long press on post image thumbnail to see the full image
- UI is optimized for phones, tablets, and foldables

What’s next?
I plan to release a beta version of Lemming on Google Play next week, to make installing and updating the app easier. Then I will focus on adding missing features like supporting links, displaying user profiles, personal messages, search and community sidebars. I also want to add customization options and improve the accessibility of the app. Lot’s to do :) Of course all of this depends on the feedback I get from the community and what is most important to the users. So don’t hesitate to give feedback and tell me what features you would like to see next!

Tested it for a few minutes and wow! One of the best lemmy clients I’ve ever used, with some extra details I’d surely use it! Like, i couldn’t find a way to see profiles, saved posts, things like that, but well i know it is on really early development so i know these things can come in the future, just wanted to say i really liked the app

Downloaded and loving it! The UI is very clean, and better than most, though maybe a little too much size taken up by a single card. Bookmark and voting probably could be above the preview to reduce the padding and empty space on the bottom. I’d like to see the colors match the official Lemmy white and lime green. I’m still learning my way around the fediverse, so I like to know what instance the post is from (e.g. putting the instance alongside community name). I like that it’s using my browser instead of the apps own (Lemmy liftoff, excellent app, had it’s own and I had a hard time actually downloading your APK through that Lemmy app)
I’d like for an easy way to not see a post again, even after I refresh. Relay for Reddit was sort of good for that but then the post would show up again after refreshing.
I just want to be able to long press a post and it disappears forever. Lol
