While there have been obvious problems with posts leaving/arriving on fedia.io I haven’t bothered to ask but it seems slightly more reliable for posts from outside to arrive on fedia.io so maybe it’s time to ask.
I haven’t seen a fedia.io sourced post make it to my accounts on ohai.social, misskey.io or calckey.social so I’m wondering if that direction has a blockage or configuration error? They sometimes make it to lemmy.world but I’m trying to read the magazine there rather than relying on a hashtag that I follow.
Federation appears to have stopped again @jerry, but they do definitely escape - I can see all my posts up to yesterday from Mastodon.
Are you following your account here with your account on the other service? They won’t populate otherwise. My account on ohai.social follows me here (and I follow it). Also the ohai.social accounts follows the magazine I created here but it doesn’t see the content. The magazine is supposed to collect posts tagged with a hashtag but it only ever picks up the posts I make on ohai.social and not any other posts. When I try to search for my fedia.io account on misskey.io it doesn’t find it. calckey.social sees it but just spins it’s wheels trying to follow it.
Note my problem is mostly fedia.io to ohai.social rather than the other way around. Posts do sometimes arrive here from ohai.social.Following magazines doesn’t work currently, I think that’s a known bug (or not implemented feature).
It will only pick up hashtags from accounts that are being followed by accounts here (and in theory on other kbin instances, although I’m not convinced the magazine hashtags federate)
There seems to be issues following certain account, if it’s set as a bot kbin won’t even see it, and I suspect there are other causes of this too (maybe follower approval?)
federation dies about every hour or so, I think due to various database issues
You turn up and my 500 errors go away! I take it the federation breaking and the 500 errors are linked?
to get federation working again, I have to run an increasing number of database cleanup SQL queries, then stop the services, then restart them. So, the reason the 500 errors go away is because I run those SQL clean up queries.
