Tl;Dr?
Line can’t go up infinitely in a finite world despite some pretending it is. The resources needed to replace the fossil fuel based energy with renewables completely on a 1:1 basis simply isn’t available currently, so without a dramatic breakthrough our consumption will need to decrease.
Then we just need more worlds, easy fix.
Now go build more rockets for the ruling class.
We are social creatures that like stories.
The story that fossil fuels are bad and that electric vehicles with point source environmental consequences that can be mitigated through [insert economics 101 term here] is a good story.
An honest assessment of what it would take for a society to transition from a fossil fuel based to renewable based is only a good story for engineering and math heads.
Just one more quarter of profits. Just trust me.
