The realpolitik on this has been going on since before you and I have been born. You might say this started with the 1948 Nakba, but it obviously goes further back to the inception of the Holy Lands as a concept. The lands and the seas on its coastlines have been poisoned with the worst fate possible: there are many groups of humans that desire it.
