Neat! As a patient gamer without a serious gaming PC, or XBox Series: Whatever-they’re-on-now-anyway; titles making it to SteamDeck is often how I first experience them.

I could have sworn it already worked. I’m worried this will fuck up a bunch of mods. If it has better performance I guess that’s nice but is Bethesda capable of performance?

Updates that change the .exe will always cause incompatibility with F4SE mods until F4SE can release a .dll update. Usually happens pretty fast though.

Keep in mind that Steam Deck compatibility/verification is a lot more than just performance. It also entails controller support, UI/UX scaling and compatibility, and functionality, like being able to pause when the steam deck goes to sleep.

Fallout 4 already works pretty well on deck vanilla, even better with some mods. But it’s always good news when devs take the steam deck into consideration. Also good news for linux gaming in general.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Bethesda announced that Fallout 4 is getting a fresh update to bring some new features, along with getting it Steam Deck Verified later in April.

On the blog post it mentions April 25th along with next-gen console updates us PC players will also see “widescreen and ultra-wide support, fixes to Creation Kit and a variety of quest updates”.

On top of that we’re also getting “stability, mods and bug fixes” and “Fallout 4 will also be Steam Deck verified” (it’s currently only rated Playable by Valve).

Free Creation Club items are also on the way in a new “Echoes of the Past” quest that sees you try to stop “The Enclave from spreading their dangerous ideology and gaining a foothold in the Commonwealth”.

They said that along with workshop items and the Enclave Colonel uniform they’re also including some other previously released content:

It’s also currently in a big Fanatical Fallout Bundle.
