I don’t see how you can recognise a state of Palestine if West Bank and Gaza aren’t ruled by the same people. You’d have to recognise one and not the other, but this means that you’re throwing the other to Israel who will want to immediately accelerate the destruction of the one that’s unrecognised.

I guess something is better than nothing but I don’t like it. What are they gonna do, recognise the existing “State of Palestine” that only has power over the West Bank and then claim they’re the rightful rulers of Gaza in exile? That’s not gonna go well. It’s gonna split Palestinians.

I’m uncomfortable with all possibilities here.
