Is there an alternative app for making payments in shops using the NFC features of the phone. I believe some banks support this directly with their app.

My bank’s app has an item labelled “Google Pay” which takes me to a Google login screen and is thus useless.

I believe a license is required for the use of debit/credit cards from the developers. You can have NFC readers (fairly sure there are some on fdroid), but they’ll only be able to do like rewards cards or a bus pass, etc.

I probably should have mentioned that. In my case, Germany.

Seemingly no other than Samsung Pay or other similar pay processors that implement payWave or similar NFC technologies but I would love to be found wrong.

I was going to suggest an actual bank card. I don’t like the farming of data much as it is, so wouldn’t want all my purchases easily accessible.
