    Isn’t that a tad old ? Looks like it’s coming from old Kurzweil books no ?

    I mean there have been quite a lot of interesting advances in AI just the last 6 months.

      It is very old, however I’d argue the content within it is completely theoretical and divorced from what our modern AI can achieve. It would be interesting if they could address GPT within it but it really doesn’t impact the ideas within it.

        “The singularity is near” is from 2005 IIRC, so here we are, soon 25 years in the “future”. Seems like he maybe was right?!

        That “cusp” thing about exponential curves is BS though, there is no “cusp” it just looks like that depending on how you grade the x and y axles in the diagram. It’s probably better to use some other measure today (we’re heading for AGI quickly IMO) maybe the raw computational power (the brain has quite many redundancies too).

        Interesting times ahead :-D !
