I am currently enjoying some excellent user content courtesy of Mastodon, Lemmy, kbin, and Squabbles. Is something going on at Reddit?

to sum up, it is like there is a rebellion going on and the boss is like playing with a fire to quash the rebellion.

You’re absolutely correct, but I think comment OP was being sarcastic. lol.

Do we have a /c/whoosh anywhere yet?

OMG me too! Been loving Mastodon for months now and was always wondering how it would look and feel to “federize” Reddit Deaddit. Now I know and love it!

I started with .one because it felt really snappy and responsive, plus .world had just been de federated from Beehaw, and I wanted to be able to interact with the Beehaw community as well.

As I got settled, I quickly realized I couldn’t downvote anyone. Granted I’m more of an upvoter and passive to posts or comments I disagree with, but I enjoy the power of moderation that downvoting offers me when I feel strongly against something.

With this new fresh look on things, and me being more of a purest in my own digital world, I went off to the GitHub instances list and found Vlemmy. I read a few of the admin posts about their stances on blocking and their principals. They seemed to better align with my own principles so I happily signed up, subscribing to all my favorite subs (magazines?) again, including many from .one that I liked.

Hopefully the platform will be updated with (or others will create) tools to aid in migration like Mastodon has, but for now it was a fun experience to go through, realizing that I want to be on a different instance and discovering new communities.

Thanks to all the admins and mods for your hard work, giving us all a place we feel at home!
